Giza 87 of Thomas Mason
The precious Egyptian cotton Giza 87 is exclusively cultivated in the particular climatic conditions along the River Nile, and in the fertile region of its delta. This cotton produces fabrics which have an incredible silky feel that is guaranteed to last over time.
The fibre Giza 87, in fact, presents extraordinary and unique characteristics, the staple length is notably long (36mm and 87.3%) and uniform, with extension and strength equal to 43.9 g/tex.
Gruppo Albini, through its brand Thomas Mason, recognises and exalts the characteristics of Giza 87, realising that is produces a fabric which does not in any way degrade over time. Through numerous washes the softness increases even further and the freshness of the material and its original brightness is absolutely maintained.
On the occasion of Milano Unica, Gruppo Albini presents in its own stand a sampling of parts of white shirts, which were made by the best shirt makers, and underwent thirty washings. This is a way to see for yourself the quality and resistance that only Giza 87, which was realised by Thomas Mason in brilliant white, can guarantee.
The degree of brilliance of Giza 87, equal to 74.8 is amongst the highest of all the Extra Long Staple Egyptian cottons, and guarantees a particular luminosity and bright whiteness to the fabric. To obtain a fabric so pure, the production process which guarantees the elimination of potential contaminations which are always present in the primary material, starts with the cleaning of the raw material, a process carried out, by hand, in Egypt. Thomas Mason then uses an Avant-Garde technology: the cotton is passed in front of a precision camera which identifies any fibre impurity, which is immediately eliminated by a powerful jet of air, in conjunction with a yarn clearing during the spooling.
The result is a brilliant white fabric, soft and silky: a sensation that can be experienced every day when putting on a shirt made from the Giza 87 of Thomas Mason.
