RE.ACT: ALBINI GROUP WITH UNIDO FOR A CIRCULAR PROJECT

Albini Group is proud to collaborate once again with UNIDO which, within the ‘The Egyptian Cotton project’, has launched RE.ACT, a project with the aim of promoting solutions for the recycling of denim in the Egyptian cotton textile industry, through important collaborations between Italy and Egypt.

The latest trends show that, unless there are significant changes in production methods, the negative impacts of the textile industry are set to increase by 2050. For this reason, textile supply chains are rethinking how they produce, consume and dispose of fabrics, moving in new directions where sustainability, circularity and competitiveness join strategic partnerships to share advanced solutions that respect the environment.

In this context, the RE.ACT project saw the creation of a capsule collection in recycled cotton thanks to the transformation of denim waste into new yarns and fabrics. The project aims to improve the quality and market opportunities for recycled denim yarns, activating partnerships between Italy and Egypt and sharing knowledge and skills to test new technological opportunities in the field of fabric recycling. Circularity in textiles is a must for a sustainable future: the RE.ACT project takes this opportunity and implements it thanks to the collaboration of companies such as Albini Group, T&C Garments, Filmar SpA and Camozzi Textile.

The national roadmap of Egypt (Egypt’s Vision 2030 Strategy) towards economic competitiveness and diversification highlights the potential of the value chain of Egyptian cotton, its fiber and its products, and aims to improve the environmental and social sustainability of the textile production, remaining competitive on global markets.
