Stony Creek Colors produces the world’s only 100% BioPreferred™ indigo and through research, testing and experimentation, ALBINI_next industrialized the correct recipe to be able to apply Stony Creek Colors’ natural indigo directly on the yarn, giving life to a palette of sustainable colors that enables brands to replace synthetic, petroleum-based indigo in their products.

The National Chamber of Italian Fashion: THE ALBINI GROUP WINS THE GROUNDBREAKER AWARD
The Albini Group is proud to have been awarded The Groundbreaker Award at the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (The National Chamber of Italian Fashion) Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 for two sustainable innovation projects: Grounded Indigo, created with supply chain partner Stony Creek Colors, and Biofusion®.
Both projects testify to Albini’s ongoing commitment to an increasingly sustainable fashion industry and are the emblem of the company’s promise to the Planet and Nature. Grounded Indigo is an innovative sustainable coloring project, developed by ALBINI_next in collaboration with Stony Creek Colors.
ALBINI_next is the Albini Group innovation hub driving change in the textile world, based on the evolution of know-how and industrial partnerships to achieve new challenging goals in creativity, materials and applied technologies.Grounded Indigo is now used by the Albini Group to dye its Biofusion® cotton yarns.
BIOFUSION® is the exclusive scientifically traceable organic cotton, thanks to an innovative method based on forensic science. The Albini Group directly manages and controls the cultivation of this cotton with the aim of ensuring full compliance with the law, high quality standards and traceability of the entire production chain.

The Groundbreaker Award is aimed at companies that are committed to the search for innovative solutions to manage the critical issues of the fashion industry in a sustainable manner. The award aims to reward those who have distinguished themselves in applying these solutions on a large scale, creating a positive social and environmental impact. Particular attention was paid to innovations focused on natural or bio-based solutions to replace conventional technologies that can damage the earth and deplete natural resources.
The Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) Sustainable Fashion Awards ceremony took place on Sunday 25 September 2022 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, in collaboration between CNMI and the United Nations Ethical Fashion Initiative. In fact, today more than ever, the Chamber of Fashion feels the responsibility to play its role in an institutional manner and there is no higher institution than that of the United Nations to implement and promote sustainability in its broadest sense.
