WHITE – Sign of the Times and Albini, a renewed collaboration

Albini Group renews the collaboration for the new edition of WHITE – Sign of the Times, the leading tradeshow for international women’s wear in the heart of the Milan Fashion Week, that will take place from 24th to 27th February.

A partnership that came into being years ago, based on the shared values of creativity and sustainability as the true driving force behind the entire sector towards an increasingly more aware and contemporary fashion.

A multifaceted collaboration which calls for a series of sustainability initiatives.

Once again for this edition Albini 1876 has provided the fabrics used to make WHITE Sign of the Times’ iconic shopping bags, for an Italian collaboration in pursuit of circularity. A concrete upcycling project, which involves the transformation of remnants from past Albini 1876 productions into shoppers made in full respect of the environment and people.

Albini Group is also present in the tradeshow with the installation “The sustainable and innovative path of Albini Group”, which explores the projects and goals of the innovation hub ALBINI_next.
The four projects featured in the installation are:

  • Grounded Indigo: a new natural textile dye, created in collaboration with Stony Creek Colors, an American manufacturer of the world’s only 100% plant-based indigo.
  • Off the Grain: an innovative and ambitious upcycling project developed in collaboration with Riso Gallo, one of Italy’s oldest rice industries. This new type of dye was derived from the processing of a particular black rice variety.
  • HempFeel: a new “green” softening product to be used in the finishing phase, done with a vegetable oil containing hemp oil. This product was created for the cosmetics industry, but ALBINI_next was the first company to apply it to fabrics.
  • Re-Oxyde: a revolutionary system of sustainable dyeing, which calls for the use of inorganic pigments based on iron oxides, obtained by recycling ferrous waste materials from the home appliance industry.

Albini will also be present with a brick dedicated exclusively to Off the Grain in the context of WSM – White Sustainable Milano, the first Fashion Trade Show entirely devoted to research and in-depth study on new methods aimed at a concrete ecological and digital transition for all fashion operators and end customers.
